The Ship's Log Windows interface shortens the learning curve and provides familiar "cut and paste" functionality to the entire program.  This interface also allows data to be shared with other programs.  Import or export log narratives between Ship's Log and your favorite word processor.  Send a log entry via email.  Share your boating adventures!

The Ship's Log search engine has been tuned to give you the fastest possible response time.  A "quick list" button on each form opens a window displaying all records.  Click the mouse on any field and it sorts all records.  Click the mouse on a record and it opens instantly.  This same search engine is used to provide user-defined queries and reports.

Many drop-down lists and user-controlled tables are included with Ship's Log, to reduce data entry.  Rather than typing the same data over and over, all entries are memorized and made available via the click of a mouse.  Additionally, all of our forms are integrated.  Once a passenger or waypoint is added to the program, that passenger or waypoint is available via a drop-down list whenever it is needed.

Ship's Log is used world-wide by recreational boaters, commercial fishing fleets and government agencies.  A multi-vessel capability was built into the program from the start, to support these varied customers.  From the fishing fleet in Alaska that uses this program for advanced vessel management and catch records, to the sheriff's department in Florida that maintains a fleet of patrol boats, this program provides seamless access to multiple vessels.

Like all other components within Ship's Log, the Crew/Passenger and Guest logs are integrated.  All passenger/guest data is available with a single mouse click.  You can even print a crew list or a telephone book, using one of the pre-formatted reports.  Launch a query to see which trips a passenger has been on - or view passenger and crew medical information for special dietary requirements.

Plan your next trip using Ship's Log.  The included database allows you to quickly select destinations and waypoints from a simple drop-down menu.  Even your crew and passengers can be selected via a drop-down menu.  And provisioning has never been easier, with a shopping list generated by a single click of the mouse.

Ship's Log provides more than a dozen unique log formats, all integrated within the structure of this amazing program.  From the Passenger and Inventory logs, to the Waypoint and Watch logs, all data is seamlessly tied together to reduce data entry.  When a Trip log is initiated, all related General, Maintenance, Fuel and Radio logs are automatically linked to that Trip.  And yet any of these logs can be used on their own, as stand-alone records.

One of the newest features of Ship's Log is the Automated Watch Log.  This handy tool includes a GPS interface and can be set to automatically record position and bearing information throughout a passage.  And to aid in documenting and exchanging information between watches, this log includes a narrative section, for reporting watch status.  For those who don't use a GPS device, this log can still be used by manually entering the position and bearing data.

Ship's Log includes a GPS Interface based on the NMEA0183 protocol, for compatibility with many common GPS devices.  This interface is used for the Watch log (as seen above) and for assigning GPS coordinates within the Waypoint log.  This new interface program also includes a GPS repeater window, for remote monitoring of GPS position and bearing data.  Use of these GPS features requires a GPS-to-PC cable and compatible GPS device.

Vessel Maintenance is one of the most important safety factors for a boater.  By providing fully automated maintenance scheduling and "push button" visibility of maintenance status, Ship's Log takes much of the work out of vessel maintenance.  Once a maintenance record has been entered, it is automatically tracked until completed.  Once a periodic maintenance task is complete, another record - complete with new due date - is generated.  A simple mouse click displays all pending maintenance schedules and status, while available reports provide detailed historical information.

Each Maintenance log includes a Parts List which is integrated with the Inventory data.  Parts are automatically decremented when used for maintenance.  The automated inventory controls provide a "shopping list" of parts as soon as minimum levels are reached.  All cost data is maintained for each Inventory item and available reports provide comprehensive details.

In addition to the integrated Parts List, the Ship's Log Inventory Controls provide easy access to every record.  Perishable, Consumable, Safety and Maintenance items can be tracked independently or collectively.  Available user-defined settings identify minimum quantities and warning levels.  Perishable items can be aged with multiple alarms.  All vessel equipment, from engines to sails to food, can be managed by the Inventory module.  Available reports display items sorted by any element, such as Category, Storage Location, Inventory Type or Description.  Quick List buttons provide access to inventory data with a single click of the mouse.  And to enhance this visibility, Ship's Log supports unlimited user-defined Inventory Categories.

The flexible reporting capabilities of Ship's Log are driven by a powerful Query engine.  A simple user interface provides access to all Ship's Log records.  And the easy-to-use reports lend portability to this information.  For those who want to develop their own custom reporting, Ship's Log includes a complete Access database, ready to accommodate the database engine of your choice.

The portability of the Ship's Log database allows many boaters to share in the excitement of your logs.  Several East Coast sailing organizations keep their data on a shared server, so all of their members can view one another's logs.  The commodore of one club emails planned itineraries to these members, so they can share details on Passengers, Waypoints and planned Trips.  At the other end of the spectrum, many boaters use Ship's Log on their home PC's and print paper log pages to be filled out while underway.  Once these paper logs are completed, they are entered into the Ship's Log program to provide access to the data via the powerful Ship's Log database engine.

Ship's Log contains the complete International and Australian State navigation rules and regulations.  In addition to the integrated search engine, "hot" buttons take you directly to your favorite pages, for quick access to important information.  A copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader is also included, to provide quick and easy search and print capability.  Print a full-color page of "Rules of the Road" or "Vessel Lights and Signals" for convenient reference while underway.

Both On-Line and On-Screen help are available for Ship's Log.  A complete User's Guide is also included, to help you get the most out of this powerful program.  Our On-line Help is accessed via our website at
